First year harvest completed

Kelpinor has announced the successful completion of in-house harvest and processing of 15 tonnes cultivated Sugar Kelp. This harvest, executed on-site at the companys Vedskjeran locality, and in Skjerstadfjorden with production partner Salten Algae, not only marks a triumph of first-year production but also demonstrates the ability to complete every single part of the cultivation cycle, in-house and at scale.

“Our company has made tremendous progress in just one year, going from zero to 15 tonnes. Successfully completing the full cultivation cycle, from initial seeding to final harvest and processing, is a major milestone for the company, setting the stage for rapid scaling in the coming years. I cannot overstate how proud I am of our team,” stated Johan Ludvig Holst, Kelpinor's Head of Operations and Finance.

Establishment of seaweed processing facility
In addition to the harvest, Kelpinor has successfully established a new factory location in partnership with PurSea, where the seaweed has been dried. “This will give us the flexibility to design our own primary processing, and allows us to deliver a product tailored to our customers' needs,” added Holst.

Kelpinor Production Trace - A step forward in Seaweed transparency
Coinciding with these milestones, is the beta launch Kelpinor Production Trace, a new feature giving customers detailed insight into when, how, and where their seaweed was cultivated and processed. A deep integration is embedded in every phase of the cultivation—from hatchery to harvest to final processing— and will eventually allow Kelpinor to trace each individual kelp frond back to its ancestor.
